Eighth & Waldo Sports Complex is focus of upcoming community engagement sessions

Press release from the City of Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville invites all neighbors to attend two community workshops this month to share their needs and interests in redeveloping the sports and recreation facilities at the Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Multipurpose Center and Citizens Field.

When: 6-8 p.m. Tues., July 11
Where: MLK Multipurpose Center, 1028 NE 14th Street

When: 6-8 p.m. Wed., July 12
Where: MLK Multipurpose Center, 1028 NE 14th Street

A survey is also open to gather input from neighbors to help shape the plan for a sports complex at the East Gainesville location. Copies of the survey will be available at the workshops, and it is also accessible online through this link. The survey closes Wed., July 19.

Feedback from the community will provide valuable information to the firm hired by the City to determine the feasibility of investing in upgrades to Citizens Field Stadium and expansion of the Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Multipurpose Center and Citizens Multipurpose Fields.

Johnson Consulting was hired last November after the Gainesville City Commission directed City staff earlier in the year to secure a consultant to explore the project scope and involve neighbors in outreach and community engagement efforts.
