Elderly woman in critical condition after hit-and-run on SW 34th Street

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 70-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car today on SW 34th Street; officers are seeking a silver subcompact vehicle with a hatchback that left the scene.

According to a Gainesville Police Department spokesman, at about 1:54 p.m. on May 8, the victim was crossing SW 34th Street in the 3900 block when she was hit by a car that subsequently drove away without stopping to render aid. The victim was transported to UF Health Shands, where she is currently in critical condition, with life-threatening injuries.
