GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eric Atria is announcing his candidacy for Alachua County Judge. Atria will be running against Judge Adam Lee, who was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2024.
Atria, a 23-year resident of Alachua County and UF Law graduate, has spent the last 20 years as a public defense attorney. He is the recipient of the 2025 Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Award for his volunteer legal work helping clients have wrongful arrests cleared. He serves on the board of directors for Girls Place, Inc., The 8th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, The James C. Adkins Jr. Inns of Court, as well as being a member of the Rotary Club of Gainesville. He is also a long-time Gainevsille musician. He lives in Alachua with his wife of 21 years and their two children.

“Voter ID laws” are GOP attempts to limit voting by blacks and poor people. There is no voter ID problem of any significance in America and s not worth blocking the votes of millions of legitimate voters.

School vouchers are a GOP attempt to end public schools in America but cutting their funding. The vouchers are typically not enough for poor to working class families to afford private schools but subsidize well off families who already afford it.
The Kyoto Protocols were an agreement without enforcement of nations to set CO2 goals, an international problem of growing severity which individual nations cannot solve alone.
Most Americans, including me and most Democrats, do not support transgender men competing in women’s sports.
The League is not a “lobbyist” for any foreign governments or the UN which the US belongs to by treaty.
