FDLE reportedly conducting “open, active” investigation regarding crimes against children at Santa Fe High School

ALACHUA, Fla. – According to an Alachua business owner and his attorney, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting an “open, active criminal investigation” into crimes against children at Santa Fe High School.
Colby Thompson of Thompson’s Sod, Inc., posted on Facebook yesterday that his attorney had sent a letter to the high school, demanding that his logo be removed from any banners or signs at the school, due to “an open, active criminal investigation into numerous individuals, including employees and affiliates of Santa Fe High School, for a multitude of felonious acts; concerningly, the Thompsons have discovered that most of the crimes being investigated by FDLE are crimes against children.” The letter also stated that the Thompsons have disenrolled their children from the high school.
Thompson wrote, “Hearing the initial reports and allegations were devastating. Our hearts and prayers are with all of the children and familes [sic] affected… Please join us in praying for these families and for complete justice to all involved.”
Bobi Frank, the Thompsons’ attorney, told Alachua Chronicle, “Thompson’s Sod went public with this to encourage victims and individuals with information to come forward to FDLE regarding this investigation.” Frank said that anyone with information regarding any potential criminal activities related to the high school or the City of Alachua can contact FDLE’s Gainesville Field Office at (386) 462-9975.
“FDLE needs the community’s commitment in order to bring justice to the victims,” Frank said.
Frank said the Thompson children are not victims of the alleged crimes, but after a community member who had been interviewed by FDLE regarding the ongoing investigation reached out to Thompson, he decided to make the investigation public. Frank wrote in her letter to the high school, “To be clear, the Thompsons will aid FDLE in its endeavor to expose all Santa Fe High School employees, officials, or affiliates whose actions, or inactions, have compromised the integrity of the Alachua County School System and will help to ensure that justice prevails on behalf of one of our most vulnerable populations, the children.”
When asked about the investigation, Alachua County Public Schools Public Information Officer Jackie Johnson told Alachua Chronicle, “We don’t have any information we can share.”
Alachua County School Board , once again, either clueless or censoring what the Public should know about school board
members issues, DEI Supervisors DWI in Tampa, ect. No wonder Newberry wants out of the wokeness. Alachua and High Springs Schools should convert the Charter Schools. Im not suprised at all that it’s going on in Santa Fe. The whole school is literally filled with pedophiles. Alachua County School Board gotta do better on their hiring process and not hire random people off the streets.
Interested to see what the investigation reveals. No crimes against children should be tolerated or acceptable. If there are people affiliated with SFHS or ACSB that have knowledge and failed to act or report crimes need to go to the chopping block too. Charge these people and expose them. That includes everyone no matter who they are.

Just more open secrets at Alachua County schools where crimes are not reported or covered up. Last year, rumor had it that a booster of the Buchholz football team stole around $30,000. The boosters board decided to accept a donation from someone else to cover the $30,000 and not report the crime to law enforcement.
So we teach our kids that covering up crimes is okay when we personally know the criminal, feel sorry for them, want to protect the reputation of the institution in favor of justice or whatever. No wonder these things become embedded in the DNA of our county.

I’m sorry, did I miss something, like an allegation substantiated by more than one party? The Thompsons may prove to be absolutely correct in their allegations and reactions, but one expects minimum agreement from someone that there is some there there before accusations of this nature are made public.

First, a company who donates to a school in exchange for advertising signs has the right to cancel their sponsorship at any time, no reason need be given.
Second, a letter sent to the school becomes a public record.
Third, a sod company who believes they have indications of wrong doings can contact FDLA privately and confidentially and give them a tip.
Fourth, a police investigation is just that, an investigation. They may or may not find evidence of wrong doings that need to go to a grand jury or a jury. I always believed that police investigations are confidential while underway and citizens were asked to not talk about it in public, but maybe I’m wrong.
Fifth, an attorney, as an officer of the court, should respect police confidentiality matters and not broadcast them in public records. I find it hard to believe that the attorney’s actions here do not violate some bar regulations or subject her to some kind of ethics charges, but perhaps times have changed.
Sixth, these unsubstantiated rumor/allegations seem to implicate if not smear lots of people related to the high school and Alachua city government. While I am a big believer of freedom of the press, the press has an obligation for completeness and fairness. In presenting this story the way they did, the Chronicle has crossed the line from journalism into muckraking scandal sheet territory. The Chronicle should be ashamed of itself.
