FHP asks public for information about August 10 hit-and-run

ARCHER, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol is asking the public for any information about a hit-and-run accident on August 10 in which a car hit a cyclist in Archer.
At about 10:20 p.m. on August 10, a vehicle traveling south on U.S. Hwy 41 near SW 139th Avenue hit a bicycle traveling the same direction. The vehicle fled the scene, and the cyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. The vehicle may have damage to the right front and may have a broken passenger-side mirror.

Is there a reason the police frequently wait weeks to ask the public for information about a crime or an event that happened? Seems like if they would ask sooner maybe somebody would have noticed something.
