Fire crews extinguish shed fire in Melrose, protect home

MELROSE, Fla. – At about 5:52 p.m. today, units from the Melrose Fire Department and Alachua County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a residential structure fire in Melrose. Upon arrival, crews found a storage shed fully involved, with flames impinging on the home.

A quick attack by the Melrose Fire crews extinguished the fire and prevented extension into the home.
The home did sustain some damage, and the Red Cross was called to assist the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
