Fire crews limit Micanopy house fire to one room, rescue a dog

Staff report
MICANOPY, Fla. – At about 8:10 p.m. on Friday night, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR), Windsor Fire, and Cross Creek responded to a fire at a two-story multi-residential structure in Micanopy.
According to a release from ACFR, light smoke was showing, and crews made an aggressive attack that quickly extinguished the fire and prevented its spread beyond the room where it originated.
Crews were able to rescue one dog, which received care by fire crews and was transported to a veterinary hospital by its owner. Another dog perished in the fire, but two cats and five ducks were saved.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. ACFR would like to remind everyone to have an escape plan and working smoke detectors.
Great job ACFR!
We are so grateful for everyone from ACFR who worked to make my family and their pets safe. Sadly the dog that was transported by us to UF Health Veterinary Hospital has passed away. We have started a GoFundMe to support the family for the upcoming expenses that go with rebuilding their home and life in Micanopy. https://gofund.me/61567b31
Firemen are our heroes everyday. God bless and protect each and every one of them.
