Fire in multi-family building limited to original unit

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At about 4:57 a.m. this morning, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a report of a residentialĀ building fire off SW 69th Terrace.
The first units at the scene found a two-story, row house style structure, with fire and heavy smoke on the first floor, extending to the second floor. Crews deployed handlines and put the fire out quickly, limiting spread to the unit of fire origin.
Nobody was injured in the building, and no other homes or structures were affected. There was considerable damage due to the home being a āhoarder residenceā.
The fire is currently under investigation by the County Fire Marshal. ACFR would like to remind everyone to keep entries and exits clear of debris so all occupants can exit rapidly and safely in an emergency.
