Firefighters contain grass fire near Eastside High School

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Wildland firefighters from the Florida Forest Service, assisted by Alachua County Fire Rescue and Windsor Fire Department, responded this afternoon to a grass fire in the 4800 block of SE 8th Avenue, north of Eastside High School.

The fire was reported at 1:22 p.m., and the fire was contained at 90% to 3.5 acres by 2:23 p.m. One structure was threatened, but no structures were damaged or destroyed.
