Original post
Firefighters from multiple agencies and Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently at the scene of a 50-acre brush fire in the 4600 block of NE CR 1469, north of Hawthorne and southeast of Orange Heights.
The fire is about 50% contained, and 8-10 homes have been evacuated; firefighters from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Florida Forest Service, and Melrose Fire Department are currently working on extinguishing the blaze.
For your safety, the Florida Forestry Service is asking that you please avoid the area due to heavy smoke, along with large amounts of equipment that are being deployed.

Thankfully all agencies came together quickly. If not for them some of us would have lost our homes for sure.
Firefighters are just the best aren’t they? These guys are real heroes.
