Firefighters extinguish fire at large workshop/barn

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Firefighters responded early this morning to a significant fire at a large workshop/barn off of 27/41 and NW 62nd Avenue, north of Newberry.
At about 5:45 a.m., crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Newberry Fire Department responded to a fire at a structure that housed heavy equipment and multiple vehicles. Witnesses reported hearing explosions as several propane cylinders and fuel tanks were compromised and ruptured. The fire was eventually extinguished.
