Firefighters extinguish second-story fire

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Early this morning, firefighters extinguished a second-story fire in a home near the H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) pool.

At about 4:30 a.m. on July 15, Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded to a house fire in the 3100 block of NW 9th Place and found heavy smoke coming from the two-story home.

The first two crews aggressively attacked the fire from inside the home, extinguishing the fire. There is significant smoke damage to the home, but no injuries were reported.

  • God bless our Firemen, they are unsung heroes, I note not a single comment here but mine. These guys risk their lives for others, they are in fact, heroes and deserve to be honored, appreciated, and praised.
