Firefighters rescue distressed crow from tree

Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue

Alachua County Fire Rescue Quint 23 responded to the Park Avenue Business Park off NW 56th Terrace following a call about a bird in distress and stuck in a tree. Units on scene discovered a crow that was tangled in the moss of a live oak tree in the business park.

Quint 23 set up their ladder to retrieve the crow safely. Firefighter Alex Hunt ascended the ladder and meticulously extricated the crow from the entanglement of moss in the tree. The crow was delivered to Sunrise Wildlife Foundation, who took the crow for medical examination.

Alachua County Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone that if you see a wild animal in distress, do not try to engage the animal but call the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Non-Emergency Line at (352)955-1818, and the appropriate agencies will be notified.
