Firefighters respond to fire at abandoned commercial building

Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Last night, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a reported commercial building fire in the 4000 block of SW 63rd Blvd. The incident was initially called in as a possible brush fire.
The first arriving unit found that it was actually a large abandoned commercial structure that was 50% involved in fire. The call was upgraded to a commercial building fire, and additional units responded. Units were hampered due to the remote location, limited access, and advanced fire condition.
Fire crews remained on scene for over five hours, containing and extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Large abandoned commercial building magically caught on fire. Glad no fire personnel were injuried.
