Firefighters respond to large brush fire in hay field

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Just after 1:00 p.m. on January 26, firefighters were dispatched to a report of a large brush fire on NW 209th Terrace in unincorporated Alachua County.
High Springs Fire Department Engine and Brush 29 were first at the scene, reporting a 2- to 3-acre grass fire moving through a 60-acre hay field.
Firefighters quickly set up the fire engine to protect structures that were threatened by the fire, while brush trucks from High Springs and Lacrosse tackled the grass fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
