Flags at half staff in honor of Pulse Remembrance Day

Press release from the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Ron DeSantis released the following memorandum today:
Eight years ago, on June 12, 2016, a shooter claiming alliance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant committed a horrific act of terrorism against the LGBTQ and Hispanic communities at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. At the time, it was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Forty-nine people were killed and fifty-three were wounded. As a mark of respect for the victims, their families, and the many affected by this tragedy, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
If they were born again Christian’s, they are with GOD, what else can “we” do for them?
Typically we memorialize events, because we want to teach future generations the lessons learned as a means of preventing the thing from happening again. Additionally, we want to preserve the memory of the innocent victims as a way to honor their next of kin who remain. I’m not sure what this has to do with being born again or not. Nonetheless, The Bible makes it clear that no one can sustain a sexually perverted lifestyle as a true, born-again Christian.
I look at this being a terrorist attack upon our country regardless of my beliefs and views. The lifestyle choices and ethnic background should have no bearing. It may gave been a justification point by a discumbolated terrorist to work up the courage to commit the act. Point is that people were killed and maimed in our country regardless of their personal choices, and backgrounds. Did Bin Laden target specific groups on 9/11? Did we care about the number of LGBTQ or Hispanic that were killed and injured? The answer is NO. He targeted our country as a whole. All we cared about was that the USA was attacked on our soil and people died. All we wanted to do is find the people responsible. So I look at the attack plainly as a terrorist attack upon people in state of Florida and USA.
Yeah, except in this case certain Americans were chosen to be victims based on their specific behavior as free citizens. I don’t think as a matter of reason that we can just ignore that.
For once, I agree with you. It was a deliberate attack on a specific demographic, that is solidly in the true category. No one deserves to live in fear of such violence. I have no issues with respecting the victims of violence of any sort, wherever they may be or however they choose to identify themselves. As long as a human’s behavior is not harmful to others, we should respect their right to continue to behave in what manner they so choose.
So much to say on this incident, and this individual life choice!
Individuals face the circumstances of their choices! Good, bad, or otherwise!
Unfortunately, the world consists of individuals who don’t believe in individual choices, such as homosexuality!
Homosexuality is NOT condoned in Islam, and Christianity.

As a former US Military member, I can say we were never instructed to NOT defend anyone of a certain color, belief, religion, etc!
Whether I believed in your personal beliefs, I fought for them all (even after being sexually assaulted by gay men twice in my military lifetime)!
What I reject, is your (and other under served/underrepresented groups) claim to preferential treatment, individual laws, and on and on, when I as a former soldier, fought for Americans (no ***).
