Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Program draws new Law Enforcement Officers from all 50 states

Press release from the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that officers from all 50 states and two U.S. territories have moved to Florida or joined the profession since Florida launched the Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program. More than 3,350 bonuses of $5,000 after taxes have been awarded to new recruits and law enforcement officers who have moved to Florida, bringing the total amount awarded through the program to more than $22.5 million to date. Of those 3,350 officers, 915 officers have moved from other states, including 47 from Illinois. Of those officers from Illinois, three officers have moved to Florida following billboards placed in Illinois, encouraging officers to make the move to a state that consistently backs the blue. Florida’s law and order policies have resulted in a 50-year record low crime rate.
“With a national lack of support for the important work law enforcement officers do daily, Florida has stood up for what is right,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Our ‘Back the Blue’ policies have brought officers from all 50 states and two U.S. territories to Florida. We will continue to support law and order and make investments in the people that keep our communities safe.”
“Under Governor Ron DeSantis’ leadership, 915 people from across the nation have relocated to Florida to be law enforcement officers in our great state,” said Florida Commerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly. “When states threaten to defund their police, they not only put their communities in danger but also the very lives of those who work so hard to protect them — I am proud that many have moved to Florida to pursue their careers because they know they will be supported.”
This successful program encourages Floridians to join the profession and attracts out-of-state recruits or experienced officers to relocate to Florida. In addition to a $5,000 recruitment bonus, the benefits of becoming a Florida law enforcement officer include financial stability, upward mobility, excellent health and retirement benefits, student loan forgiveness programs, home loan programs, and more.

I am glad to see the State backing law enforcement and most of the Departments back their officers it’s a shame the city of Gainesville is not one of them
🤣
The governor should double-up law enforcement in liberal cities, like Gainesville. Since liberals are for open borders, allowing illegal immigrants freely into our cities, additional law enforcement may be needed. Israel’s boarders WERE protected and look what happened to them.
If only Democrat run Gainesville was as interested in crime prevention and supporting the police as the rest of Florida.
Hallelujah (even if that press release was very confusing) 🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏾
I will bet most of those Northern cops are ones who recently retired after 30 years with a huge pension and planned to retire to Florida anyway. They move to Florida and get a local cop job, thus getting two incomes and depriving a local from having a job. Note: I am against double dipping. If being a cop is so dangerous cops need to get full retirement after 20 or 30 years, then they should be prohibited from “retiring” in one place and getting a full pay job somewhere else as a cop. This is pure hypocrisy that the police unions have foisted off on the politicians. It is just wrong. It is a scam to rip off the taxpayer’s dollars.
Experience is important too. But I hope newbies are still encouraged to apply.
I am addressing the elected City of Gainesville legislative body referred to as the city council/commission, mayor, city manager & city attorney. Recently I have posted videos to my YOU TUBE channel Blue Steel @bluesteel7199 the video highlights Gainesville Police Department Internal Affairs/Professional Standards Director T. Durst. The video Iam referring to is titled “HELP MAKE ME A CITY ATTORNEY APPOINTMENT 352 334 5001 LEAVE APPOINTMENT IN COMMENTS, THANK Y’ALL”. This is the video I want to concern your attention to. There is a first published video titled “ #badcop I.A. F’D AROUND & CORRUPTION FOUND”.
The pretense of I.A. director T. Durst is the object of dispelling in this action. The complainant is Mr. Andre Abrams, a Gainesville resident, the Abrams’ name in his regard is involved with the city in several aspects; pending litigation a car accident involving GPD the root & an active criminal case involving GPD, both are still at this time not resolved to fruition. During this period of unresolved matters, a domestic violence classified call was placed to the Abrams’ residence, responded to by GPD. During this call an incident occurred that is the nature of the complaint & brings us to this point of intersection with director Durst. I am Sterling Grindle AKA Blue Steel a resident of Gainesville and a police & government accountability activist who posts to YOU TUBE primarily. I enter at this point in angst.
We come into GPD lobby as in response to director Durst not processing a complaint to GPD SOP. His actions prior to this seem to assimilate another motive as to elude from the contingency that these aforementioned subjects impinge upon. It is our combined intention to direct our focus on that:
1.Complaint expedited (it has been my experience it takes many months as I can prove several times over) 2. A very well-developed standalone complaint that need not be expanded upon does not need “clarifying” as director Durst infers (ask to see for YOURSELVES also see video titled “GPD LYING ASS Lt. Durst”). 3. No complaint number assigned (means no complaint exists) 4. Director Durst has stated he has not done his due diligence or follows any SOP in the matter of this complaint’s latency. 4. Director Durst’s true intent is divulged in dialogue as to he wants to interview Abrams… 5. Our actions are an attempt to belay director Durst these videos are such an accounting of the facts surrounding director Durst’s actions of intimidation, coercion, ant-bias, malfeasance, duplicity, deception (deception is fraud, fraud @ Govt. Level is corruption) and corruption under the color of law in his official capacity is the accusations made.
We called Durst via cell phone, in a counter-ambush configuration against director Durst and developed the situation as the burden of proof lies on us, the accusers. It is clearly evident as these events that have been captured. The choice is YOURS as to how YOUR actions will be portrayed. This is my complaint. I believe GPD I.A. should cease taking complaints as they have a litany of disillusion of the accredited functions performed. Director Durst by his actions shows the wonton willfulness of GPD, as he receives his orders from?… I am patiently standing by and would like to speak to someone 1:1 as the city attorney, manager or mayor. My cell is and YOU have my email. This was emailed all those and then some @ approx. 3pm. This is Gainesville & GPD.
And yet the state of Florida and Governor DeSantis don’t back those assisting LEOs on the daily and consider 911 dispatchers to be secretaries. What a joke! I’d like to see LEOs do the job of 911 dispatchers.
