GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Raneisha Davasia Boston, 23, was arrested yesterday on a warrant for using a customer’s debit card to make purchases.

According to a sworn complaint filed in the case, Boston was working at KFC at 1231 E. University Avenue on July 6, 2021, when the victim made a food purchase. During the purchase, another employee told Boston that she had swiped the card for the wrong order. The victim said Boston swiped her card a second time before returning the card to her with her food.

The victim told Gainesville Police Department that she received notifications from her bank two days later that four unusual purchases had been made, totaling $493.56. An investigator reportedly found that surveillance video at KFC showed Boston swiping the card twice, taking a photo of the front and back of the card, and returning the card to the victim.

An investigator contacted the vendors for the suspicious purchases and found that the shipping addresses matched the addresses of two of Boston’s relatives. The email and phone numbers associated with the orders were found to belong to Boston.

Boston has been charged with petit theft over $100, fraudulent use of a debit card, and criminal use of personal identification information. She has no criminal history and is being held on $32,500 bail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • If you’re going to try a scam like that:

    1) Don’t send fraudulent purchases to people tied to you.
    2) Don’t use email addresses and phone numbers tied to you.

    Forensics 101.

I can appreciate being frustrated, trying to live in Gainesville on a KFC wage. Heck, I wouldn’t live in Gainesville on a UF computer tech wage. But this was just a recipe for disaster.

    • Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum…I smell a progressive commie democrat. I know I’m right Mr. Grubbs…Bet you think giving her free affordable housing or a government stipend would have stopped her from committing crimes…

    • @Grubbs..that means you live doing credit card fraud and that’s why you are explain how to do it? I live with a modest salary in a modest way and i am very happy…

  • Gee, I wonder why no one wants to go to east Gainesville?? That’s a real head-scratcher, I tell you what…

  • Looks like old Reneesiawaha will have a record, maybe. No telling what will be done about it, maybe a few months probation. Will be working and stealing from another business soon with no end in sight. A life of crime and mollycoddling by the courts.
