Forward Focus: Eastern Alachua County’s next community listening session for the Rochelle, Windsor, and Grove Park communities

Press release from Alachua County
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Alachua County Commission continues its community listening sessions for the Forward Focus initiative. The next session is on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Hall Chapel United Methodist Church (6025 SE County Road 234, Gainesville).
The Forward Focus initiative is designed to enhance quality of life, boost economic opportunities, and address community needs in eastern Alachua County. Following productive meetings in Hawthorne, Waldo, Micanopy, Monteocha, Island Grove/Cross Creek, and Melrose, the project team will hold an additional session this month, focusing on the Rochelle, Windsor, and Grove Park communities. All Alachua County residents, community leaders, and business owners are encouraged to attend, as this will be one of the Forward Focus Team’s final Community Listening Sessions in its first stage.
At each meeting, attendees learn more about the Forward Focus project goals and timeline. They can provide feedback that helps identify opportunities and needs in each area, as well as network with neighbors and local leaders. These community listening sessions are crucial for developing a comprehensive strategy to address the unique needs and aspirations of this region.
“We have found our community listening sessions to be extremely helpful in identifying opportunities across Eastern Alachua County,” said Missy Daniels, assistant county manager and Forward Focus Team lead. “Our upcoming Rochelle, Windsor, and Grove Park session excited us, and we encourage everyone to participate in these important conversations.”

County Commission is still silently kicking themselves for bowing down to the misled environmental cult and squashing previous developments to the east that would have greatly assisted the black community and eastern Alachua County in general… Plum Creek and Weyerhaeuser can verify!
All our local government does is chase votes…pathetic whores
Another 10 years you wont beable to find a nice country spot away from everybody in this county. welcome to “DA” jungle
I get it! Listening Session! TYPICAL ALACHUA COUNTY, IT WILL GO IN ONE EAR AND DEFINITELY OUT THE OTHER EAR! 😢
Don’t listen to NIMBYs in the eastern county. That’s where development should have been happening the last 60 years, not the westside (if you care about groundwater quality and cancer clusters).
