Four arrested, including one of the victims, in connection with July 19 home invasion homicide

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four people have been arrested, including one of the victims, in connection with yesterday’s home invasion in the 2000 block of NE 16th Terrace that resulted in the death of one woman and gunshot wounds to the two men accused of breaking into the home. Gainesville Police Department said in a press release that the incident was most likely drug-related.

Alderious Jerrad White, 28, allegedly entered the house after the door was kicked down, carrying a firearm. Once inside, he encountered the homicide victim and allegedly shot her; she died as a result of the gunshot wound.

Jason Travis Ward, 38, allegedly kicked in the door of the house, carrying a firearm. Once inside, he allegedly held two residents of the house, who had been sleeping in a bedroom, at gunpoint.

Dovico Raynard Miles, 44, one of the residents who were allegedly held at gunpoint by Ward, reportedly wrestled a gun away from Ward, and the gun went off, striking Ward.

Tiara Lanae Luckie, 30, allegedly drove White and Ward to the home. She reportedly drove past the house at about 6:30 a.m. but did not stop. At about 6:40 a.m., she reportedly drove past the house again and stopped to let Ward out of the car. He reportedly knocked on the door of the house, but there was no answer. He came back to the car, and they reportedly drove to the house a third time at about 6:50 a.m. and parked. Both Ward and White reportedly got out of the vehicle and then allegedly broke down the door and entered the house.

After Ward was shot, surveillance video reportedly shows him running out of the house from a side door, holding his torso; he then got into Luckie’s car, and she reportedly drove him, at his request, to the house of his cousin, where she knocked on the door and told the cousin that Ward had been shot. Ward got into his cousin’s car, and she drove him to the hospital, where the emergency room contacted law enforcement to report a gunshot wound victim.

After Ward was shot, White ran out of the front door, dropping a gun along the way. Miles reportedly shot White in the front yard with Ward’s gun, then confronted White as he sat in the middle of the road. White was arrested at the scene and treated for his gunshot wound. Miles reportedly recognized White as the son of a longtime friend and was able to identify him in a photo line-up.

Two other residents of the home, including a 10-year-old child, hid in a bathtub during the incident.

Although Miles was a victim of the home invasion, he has been charged with tampering with evidence after allegedly wrapping Ward’s gun and two other “rusted” guns that were already in the home in a t-shirt and placing them in an overgrown area on the other side of the chain-link fence because he knew he could not possess a firearm, as a convicted felon. However, detectives reportedly saw part of a handgun sticking out of the t-shirt and then found all three guns.

Luckie has been charged with accessory after the fact to a capital felony. She is being held on $250,000 bail. She has one prior felony conviction on a drug charge and is on probation.

Miles has been charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held on $150,000 bail. Miles has seven felony convictions and is currently on federal supervised release.

Ward has been charged with premeditated first degree murder, five counts of armed home invasion robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held without bond for the murder charge and on $6 million bail on the other charges. Ward has ten felony convictions and has served four state prison terms, mostly for robbery. He was most recently released in 2018 following a sentence of 2 years and 6 months for robbery by snatching.

White has been charged with premeditated first degree murder, five counts of armed home invasion robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held withou bond for the murder charge and on $6 million bail on the other charges. White has 15 felony convictions, one violent, and has served three state prison terms; he was most recently released in 2018 following a sentence of 2 years and 6 months for drug dealing, trafficking in stolen goods, and fleeing. He also has three pending sworn complaints for attempting to cash fraudulent checks for thousands of dollars each.

  • Now why isn’t blm demanding justice that these 4 spent the rest of their life in prison or get the death penalty.

    • The same way Blue Lives Matter is no where in sight on their counterparts raping children or did you miss that article last week?

    • You sound so dumb! Why would the man defending his home be getting life in prison!

      • My favorite part of the story is when “Miles shot White in the front yard with Wards’s gun”…is Tiara
Luckie Doc’s daughter? This is some really bad stuff
That happened. They will all be in jail for a very long
Time…it’s crazy that people will kill for drugs…look
        At all the wasted lives.

    • Because WE ALREADY KNOW JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED AND THEY WILL SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES IN PRISON!!!

    • CORRECT! Because CLEARLY African Americans don’t get away with killing each other but police officers get away with it all the time

  • I wouldn’t discount the possibility that she planned the whole thing. Charging her as only an accessory after the fact seems weak when she drove them there.

  • Check alachua county court records on dovico miles. 9 pages of cases. Its unbelievable that he is not in prison for life now. I can only imagine if miles was not in the home the home invasion and murder would not have happen given miles history.

    • Why would be in prison for protecting his home and his niece got killed in the process y’all be looking at ppl old charges and try to judge them sad asf

      • Old charges? Thats why he’s on federal probation right? It’s drug related and everybody knows it , Whats sad as fu’% is the continued disobedience for the laws around here. there’s a certain demographic of people that feel as though they can do what they want when they want and the laws don’t apply to them and then when they do find themselves in hot water with law enforcement they cry racial Injustice because they almost never follow commands given. As we’ve all seen here in the recent events criminals like these just don’t care. They don’t think about the consequences, nothing deters them from their actions and prison is no longer a deterrent. Maybe when we start getting serious about recidivism rates around here and start handing out some hard time people will get the hint and think twice because these couple year stints just ain’t doing it. It’s unfortunate somebody lost their life and there was kids that had to witness this but nothing good comes out of the drug game and this is proof right here.

          • My name is Donald J Trump and I’m going to clean up this shyt hole of a Nation when I get re-elected in 2024

        • This is one of the craziest and most brutal black on black crime stories to date in the AC …unbelievable. What horrible people…all of them.
Menaces to society. —To all the people who are pro-abortion: giving these people the death penalty should be ok with you.

        • I bet some people were thinking that Joe and Kamala might not be the best president and vice-president, but at least they will legalize weed on a federal level. No, they can’t even get that done.

  • This is proof that jails do not rehabilitate…we need to rethinks schools in low income areas and re-do the penitentiary system.
