Free meals for all students continuing at 33 local schools

Press release from Alachua County Public Schools

District encouraging eligible families at other schools to apply for free or reduced-price meals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the upcoming school year, 33 local schools, including some charter schools, have been designated as federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) sites. That designation means that all students at the school are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch, regardless of family income, and without having to apply.

The CEP schools for the 2022-23 school year are:

Families of students at 17 local schools that are not designated as CEP sites for the upcoming school year will need to meet income guidelines and fill out a family application for their children to receive free or reduced-price meals. Those non-CEP schools are Buchholz High, Chiles Elementary, Ft. Clarke Middle, Gainesville High, Hidden Oak Elementary, High Springs Community, Kanapaha Middle, Meadowbrook Elementary, Newberry High, Oak View Middle, PAM@Loften High, Santa Fe High, Talbot Elementary, Wiles Elementary, Expressions Charter, PK Yonge Developmental, and Healthy Learning Charter.

More information and an online application are available on the district’s Food and Nutrition Services website at www.yourchoicefresh.com. Hard copies of the application are also available at the affected schools.

Families needing more information can call (352) 955-7539, extension 1569.

  • My grand daughter is going to the school that is not CEP certified GHS, but her Father makes just three dollars to much to qualify. Guess they expect her to be able to eat on $3.00 all year long. NOT GOOD! But any of those whom go to the CEP school doesn’t have to quality.

    • She should just make something at home & bring it to school in a brown bag…they get food stamps, right?

    • Unfortunately the income guidelines are determined by the federal government. We have no control over that here in the school district. Full paid lunch is $2.50 per meal.
