Press release from Gainesville Housing Authority
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completed renovation of the ELITE Training Center. The ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the newly remodeled training facility, located at 2626 East University Avenue in Gainesville, Florida.
The ELITE Training Center will provide job training and business development programs for Gainesville Housing Authority residents, as well as the broader Gainesville community. The job training center will operate in partnership with area businesses to provide individuals with the skills necessary to obtain employment, advance their careers, and boost earning potential. ELITE is an acronym for empowerment, life skills, innovation, training, and entrepreneurship, which play key roles in career development.
The ELITE Training Center renovation project was made possible through the efforts of the Gainesville Housing Authority, Gainesville Housing Development Management Corporation (GHA nonprofit entity), and the City of Gainesville.
“The ELITE Training Center will provide skills to help make residents employable and set them on the path to self-sufficiency. This is where lives will be changed by innovative programs and improving individuals’ economic well-being,” states Pamela Davis, Gainesville Housing Authority’s Chief Executive Officer.
Ribbon-cutting event attendees may tour the new facility to view the training rooms, conference rooms, and inspirational wall art placed throughout the center. Visitors can learn more about job training and business development programs offered at the Elite Training Center, as well as the mission and vision for the future of GHA residents.

Ok…who’s gonna say it first? Lol
My ex-partner and I benefitted when we started our business decades ago from advice from a retired businessman in a volunteer program. Getting a few contracts and performing the work was more important for our survival than advanced business skills, but we did need rudimentary guidance.
What a wonderful thing to be coming to our community!
