Gainesville is for People officially endorses James Ingle for City Commission

Press release from Gainesville is for People
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville is for People, a dedicated group of volunteer housing advocates, is pleased to announce our endorsement of James Ingle for the Gainesville City Commission At-Large Seat A race. After careful consideration, we have decided to refrain from making an endorsement in the District 1 race.
Gainesville is for People is committed to addressing the housing crisis in our community. We are deeply frustrated by the ongoing issues of tenant displacement, segregation, high rents and home prices, and the long commutes that many residents face due to a lack of housing near jobs, schools, and other essential community resources. Our mission is to advocate for policies and initiatives that will end the housing shortage and create a community with abundant, affordable homes for everyone.
James Ingle has demonstrated a clear understanding of the housing challenges facing Gainesville and has shown a strong commitment to implementing solutions that align with our mission. His dedication to creating inclusive, affordable housing opportunities and addressing the root causes of our housing crisis makes him the ideal candidate for the At-Large Seat A position. We believe that under his leadership, Gainesville can make significant strides toward a more equitable and sustainable housing landscape.
While we have chosen not to endorse a candidate in the District 1 race, we remain hopeful that all candidates will prioritize housing issues and work towards solutions that benefit all residents of Gainesville.
We encourage all members of our community to participate in the upcoming election and to support candidates who are committed to addressing the critical housing issues we face. Together, we can build a brighter future for Gainesville.
While I’m disappointed by the choice of this organization, it further proves my message about how party-line groups interfere with implementing solutions to the issues our community is facing. A group committed to addressing our local housing crisis has endorsed a candidate with no housing plan in his platform over a candidate with a well-thought-out, fact-based plan to address the need for affordable homeownership opportunities. During the forum, Mr. Ingle expressed his disbelief in the need to develop East Gainesville. As someone who grew up on the east side, I would like to emphasize how dangerous this viewpoint could be for our community. The real work to deliver affordable housing to all of Gainesville will continue beyond this forum.
Thank you.
this organization looks to be for things continuing as they are, they endorsement is not 1 I would base my voting on. but then this is Gainesville. 🙁
makes my choice even clearer. no way to Ingle. as others have said, he already put a bad taste in my mouth for his union background and all.
I’m voting for Fareed Johnson. Ingle is a unionizing living waging tarbaby mess.
Fareed Johnson, good luck. I guess you have all the “Wackos” against you. This group here I never even heard of “Gainesville for People”. What is affordable housing anyway? Don’t we already have affordable housing or government housing? Which is supposed to be only temporary but instead has become generational. Trapping people in a cycle of poverty, waiting for the next government handout.
So…not James. Got it.
Carl: you got bingo‼️
Ingle made landlords put their rents up because of his communism.
The scary part of this discombobulation of DISorganization is that they refuse to acknowledge their preferred candidate is just a clone of the people who’ve been elected in the past. They’re part of the reason for the issues they claim, falsely, to want to correct.
I’m telling you, you can’t fix stupid and you shouldn’t ignore incompetence.
“Volunteer housing advocates” ? Isn’t that what citizen commenters and social media do already? Did they actually set up an NGO?
How could Ingle possibly care about houses when he never takes his hat off while inside. It’s a small gesture with huge implications. Notice how the east side of Gainesville is the highest government assisted living area, with also the highest crime rate. If the people are given a house and have nothing to contribute to that house they don’t care and won’t respect it. I personally don’t understand how, actually I do, Ingle is a consistent mold of what has been previously elected in the city. I’m ashamed I’ve been bamboozled by politicians before but now when housing and crime is at an all time importance I know and believe the city needs change. Fareed may not look like your typical candidate on the surface, but I challenge you to connect with him and hear what he believes in. He’s a very impressive young man.
I also find it funny how “Gainesville is for people” is actually a smaller chapter of a larger nationwide liberal group. I’m not saying anything but this, the city needs change that hasn’t happened in years. As a resident of the west side of Gainesville I would love to see as much change on the east side that’s happening out my way. As for me and my family we wholeheartedly believe Fareed is that change.
Ohh, and you can stop accepting Press releases from Gainesville is for people. 😉
I can tell you exactly what will change regardless of who is elected. The answer is: NOTHING!!!!! Not in this town.
