Gainesville man arrested after allegedly shooting at girlfriend’s car on I-75

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kelvin Jamal Williams, 29, was arrested yesterday and charged with attempted homicide after allegedly shooting a hollowpoint bullet at his girlfriend’s car on I-75.

At about 4 p.m. on December 26, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy and Florida Highway Patrol Trooper responded to the victim’s car near the southbound 381 mile marker on I-75. The victim said Williams chased her car while riding a motorcycle on I-75, pointed a handgun at her vehicle, and shot at least one round at it. She said she and Williams had been arguing earlier in the day.

At about 4:28 p.m., a deputy responded to Bellamy Grand Apartments (2625 SW 75th St.), where he found Williams outside his apartment; post Miranda, Williams denied shooting at the victim. He reportedly said he had a firearm stored in a case in a backpack in his possession and a second handgun in his apartment; the deputy reported finding a Glock 43 in the backpack and a Glock 19 in the apartment.

A bullet hole was reportedly found on the victim’s vehicle, with the bullet visible. The bullet was retrieved and reportedly matched the hollow-point ammunition that was loaded in Williams’s handguns and magazines.

Williams has been charged with attempted homicide. He has no criminal history; Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.

    • Yawn just a normal day in the soon to be conservative utopia of Springs County.

  • Not the bang Kelvin expected his year to go out but I’m pretty sure it’ll help Rodney’s numbers for year’s end.

From what I’ve been seeing, he’s had a bang-bang year in 2024 and New Year’s Eve hasn’t even made it yet.

  • They need to hold him and sentence him to the highest time allowed. No telling how many people he would of took from this world if she had wrecked the car, my daughter being one of them .

  • Not considering his crime but just looking at his photo, it appears he is saying, “who me? I didn’t do nuthin’!

  • “The victim said Williams chased her car while riding a motorcycle on I-75, pointed a handgun at her vehicle, and shot at least one round at it.”

Just let him keep riding that crotch rocket and I’m sure this problem will take care of itself based on all the motorcycle accident deaths in the news lately.

  • This isn’t true , I know the victim myself not good ASO spreading these lies isn’t okay ! Kelvin always been an honest man
