Gainesville man arrested for burglary, stalking, and battery

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Xzavion Jacquez Carmen, 24, was arrested early this morning and charged with stalking, battery, battery during burglary, and property damage after allegedly pushing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and punching her.

The victim told a Gainesville Police Department officer that she and Carmen had previously dated and had broken up in January. She said that Carmen came to her apartment complex uninvited and parked in front of her apartment at about 3:30 a.m. this morning. She said she noticed him while she was taking out the trash and ran to her apartment to get away from him; she said Carmen yelled a question about whether she saw his call, but she said he has been repeatedly calling and texting her since she ended the relationship.

Carmen reportedly reached the door just as the victim tried to shut the door, and the victim said he positioned his leg so she could not shut the door. She ran to the bedroom and braced the door with her feet, but Carmen allegedly pushed the door so hard that it came off its hinges and detached from the frame.

When the officer arrived, Carmen reportedly said he wanted to get some clothes that the victim did not want to give him because she had purchased them as gifts. He allegedly picked up a shirt, and the victim reportedly fell to the floor while they struggled over the shirt. The victim said that Carmen walked over to take the shirt from her and put his foot on her shoulder for leverage; during the struggle, he allegedly punched her in the face.

Post Miranda, Carmen declined to speak with the officer.

Carmen has a juvenile criminal history and three misdemeanor convictions, one for domestic battery. He also has a pending misdemeanor case for driving without a valid license. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $40,000.
