Gainesville man arrested for climbing through window to steal cash

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Moses Emanuel Bryant II, 39, was arrested early this morning on a warrant for allegedly climbing through a window to steal cash from a Sweetwater Square apartment in April.

A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the victim noticed on the morning of April 7 that someone had stolen about $2,000 in cash from his bedroom closet at Sweetwater Square (3101 NE 15th Street). The victim said he had cracked open his bedroom window to cool his apartment at about midnight the night before, and then he stepped outside to speak to his neighbors; he said he went back inside at about 2:20 a.m.

The officer reported that surveillance video from the apartment complex shows two individuals hanging out behind the victim’s apartment; one of them, later identified as Bryant, can be seen pushing the rear window open and climbing into the apartment. A few minutes later, Bryant leaves the apartment and drives away.
