Gainesville man arrested for exposing himself outside Midtown apartment

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Stacey Ramone Scott, 50, was arrested last night for allegedly exposing himself outside the window of an apartment in Midtown.

At about 8:30 p.m. on July 25, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a call from the victim, who said there was a man outside her window in the 100 block of NW 9th Terrace, “jerking off.” The victim described the man and his clothing and said he was last seen walking northbound on NW 9th Terrace.

The officer found Scott walking on NW 3rd Avenue near NW 9th Terrace and detained him after noting that he matched the description provided by the victim.

While the officer was locating the suspect, the victim told law enforcement that she had looked out of her window and had seen a man with his pants down, making a stroking motion in his genital area; she said he was wearing blue underwear. The officer also noted that Scott’s “pants were positioned in a manner where I could see his underwear” and the underwear were blue.

Post Miranda, Scott reportedly denied masturbating outside and said he left the area of the victim’s apartment building because a man told him the police had been called and he should leave. He reportedly agreed to show officers his underwear, and they were confirmed to be blue.

The victim positively identified Scott as the man she had seen outside her window.

Scott has been charged with indecent exposure. He has 12 felony convictions (two violent) and 32 misdemeanor convictions (five violent); he has served two state prison sentences and was last released in July 2024 after serving a four-year sentence for five felonies spread across three cases. Judge Donna Keim set bail at $25,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Correct me if I wrong but isn’t this the 3rd guy jacking off in public this year? That’s got be some kind a record right. Congratulations to the GSSR. It’s these quality of life issues that really matter to blue voters. My next question is the same guy from July 1st at Plaza Health and Rehab and UF Health and Rehab that guy was wearing a shiesty to hide his face.
