Gainesville man arrested for indecent exposure

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tracy Leon Smith, Jr., 35, was arrested yesterday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and indecent exposure.

The victim reportedly told a Gainesville Police Department officer that she was washing dishes at a window when she saw Smith sitting on a stool outside a house and that he pulled down his pants, exposing himself.

Post Miranda, Smith reportedly told the officer that he was sitting outside so he could smoke weed. The officer wrote that while he was speaking with Smith, Smith dropped several white rock-shaped objects, which field-tested positive for MDMA (molly).

Smith has 10 felony convictions and served a 16-month prison term for cocaine possession and distribution; he was released in 2008. Since 2019, numerous charges against him have been dropped, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stalking, petit theft, battery, burglary, and property damage.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Florida needs a 3 strikes law and even better, export repeat offenders to Haiti. For a prison industry there. They need a new industry and can teach voodoo to our repeat offenders who like blaming others.

  • It sounds counterintuitive, but you are allowed to walk around your own property nude in Florida. You just can’t do anything that could be construed as lewd or sexual. The cop probably should never have been dispatched there in the first place based on the details presented.

  • In light of recent arrests with regard to felons and firearms I’m guessing he wasn’t hiding any.
