Gainesville man arrested for intentionally damaging Corvette and scooter at apartment complex

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Raja Gavrael Weise, 32, was arrested yesterday after allegedly kicking the hood of a Corvette and “completely destroying” a scooter at Crossings at Santa Fe.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the Crossings at Santa Fe (3205 NW 83rd St.) and reported that at about 6:30 p.m. on March 7, Weise walked over to a 1997 Corvette, removed a cover from the car, and walked away, dragging the cover on the ground. A short time later, Weise allegedly returned to the Corvette, walked to the front of the vehicle, lifted his leg over the hood, and kicked the front of the hood with his heel. The deputy reported that there was a significant crack on one headlight cover, and the owner of the Corvette estimated the damage at over $1,000.
The deputy reported that surveillance video showed the incident.
At about 8 p.m. on March 7, Weise allegedly “completely destroyed” a scooter; the owner’s daughter reportedly saw Weise destroying the scooter from the balcony of the owner’s apartment.
Post Miranda, Weise reportedly denied damaging any vehicles or scooters, but when he learned that there was video evidence, he claimed that it was AI-generated.
Weise has been charged with felony property damage and misdemeanor property damage. He has no local criminal convictions, but two 2023 arrests for battery can no longer be found in the court system. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him released on his own recognizance.

Felony property damage should not be a no-bail crime.
I bet if it were Judge Rawls’ car he would be sitting in jail right now.

Seems like he should be held and work off the damages, 2x because he did the crime, he should do the crime.
