Gainesville man arrested for molesting 6-year-old
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Christopher Leon McCray, 35, was arrested yesterday and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation of a six-year-old child.
The child reportedly disclosed in a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center that McCray had touched his private parts under his clothes when he was in bed at night. The victim said this happened recently and more than once and that McCray told him not to tell anyone and called him a “snitch” when he threatened to tell his mother. The victim said his mother was outside or away from home when the molestation occurred and that McCray regularly babysat the victim and his siblings.
Post Miranda, McCray reportedly admitted that he regularly babysat the children but denied touching any of the children inappropriately.
McCray has a previous conviction for DUI and successfully completed deferred prosecution on a marijuana possession charge. He was accused of molesting a child between 12 and 16 years of age in 2018, but prosecutors determined that there was not enough evidence to proceed. He was charged with punching another man in 2022, but those charges were later dropped. Bail information is unavailable because of the nature of the offense.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
Hopefully Alachua Schools don’t drop requirements for bus drivers any lower. This guy looks like on of my drivers in the late 70’s. In Alachua County
not him he was born in 1988
As a mother, i do a quick background check especially when this person will be around my kids. i feel like everyone should do this. Also parents should start teaching kids about the “don’t tell anyone red flag”. I felt the need to teach my kids this around 5yrs old, no person, especially an adult should tell a kid to keep a secret or else. this is very inappropriate. he needs to do serious time. doesn’t look like his first offense in doing this, charges dropped or not doesn’t matter.
Most sex offenders have a clean record and most sexual abuse occurs by a close friend or family member
Blame the judicial system and vote them out
When he goes to that prison dorm and the lights go out he’s gonna be terrified hearing those blades getting sharpened and the gangsters talking about who’s gonna get it next. That’s real shït now. I’ve heard it.
Hate to say it…no I don’t. This is just the type job applicant background checks are/were intended to protect people and their families against. Unfortunately, those idiots some other idiots elected voted to take some of those safeguards away.
Hope you’re all feeling safe and secure in the liberal dunghole you’ve made of the place.
He deserves immediate death
All Alachua county residents should be watching the trial for this man- the 8th judicial circuit judges are routinely lenient on child abusers especially in family court! Court watch! Demand this man have the maximum sentence.
He needs to be executed. No questions asked!!
No nice words for child rapist.
It’s all due to past slavery, like everything else.
Be nice
What’s going to happen is the victims family and cictkm will continue to be victims of DCF and adlitems granra
this is what happens when you let ‘familiars’ from the neighborhood watch your kids
first mistake was having a MALE sitter, weird from the jump.
I couldn’t agree more. In life, we get what we pay for.
Ok a enough is a enough pls don’t let him slide back under cover he is to dangerous for our community
What’s sad is if he isn’t guilty of this crime and the child was coerced just as the child was in 2018. If he is guilty he needs to pay for his crime but if he isn’t he need to file defamation of character charges against the parents
