Gainesville man arrested for stomping on woman’s arm and breaking it

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tobreis Corney Fields, 37, was arrested yesterday for allegedly breaking a woman’s arm by stomping on it.

A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that at about 1 p.m. on February 13, Fields argued with the victim, and the victim said Fields pushed her, so she pushed him back and unintentionally hit him in the lip, which was previously injured by a dog, requiring surgery. The victim said the physical fight continued until Fields pushed her to the floor, and while she was trying to push herself up from the floor, Fields stomped on her forearm; she said she was told at the hospital that her arm was probably broken, and she was referred to an orthopedic surgeon for follow-up. The officer noted that she was wearing a soft cast when he spoke to her, and she reportedly showed him a text message in which Fields apologized for breaking her arm.

Post Miranda, Fields reportedly corroborated the victim’s story but said he became angry after the victim unintentionally re-injured his lip because it caused him a great deal of pain. He said that after the victim fell to the floor, he tried to keep her on the floor because the incident was getting violent, and somehow she ended up with a broken arm.

Fields has been charged with aggravated domestic battery. He has at least 13 felony convictions (four violent) and 16 misdemeanor convictions (eight violent), and he has served four state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2024. A sworn complaint for domestic battery and property damage was filed against him in November 2025, but the charges were later dropped. Judge Tatum Davis set bail at $500,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Only a matter of time before this idiot kills somebody.
It would be great to be proactive and do something to him before he gets the opportunity.

  • How did they know each other, was it random or they knew each other? If random strangers, we need to know the area it happened for our neighborhood watch surveys.

  • Victim will drop charges. After receiving calls free phone calls threatening her or apologizing. Or he will plead to a lesser charge.

  • Another example of a person with 4 prison stays, 29 criminal convictions walking the streets of civilized society. Im sure if you add up the possible sentences lengths for 29 convictions there is no way this guy should be out of prison until he is in his eighties. He is a animal more so then the dog that bit his lip. The dog is smart enough to know he is bad news and needs to be separated from the herd.
