Gainesville man arrested for trying to gouge out sister’s eyes
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jason Joel McKnight, 51, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated domestic battery after allegedly attacking his sister and trying to gouge out her eyes.
At about 1:45 p.m. on December 2, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home off NE 39th Avenue, where the victim reportedly said she had gone to McKnight’s residence because he had an upcoming doctor’s appointment and wasn’t answering his phone. She said she went inside the house, and when she came back outside, he attacked her without provocation, pinning her to the ground and pushing his fingers and thumbs into her eyes while saying, “What are you doing?” over and over.
The victim told the deputy that she believed McKnight was going to gouge out her eyes or possibly kill her; she said she bit him in self-defense, and he let go and went back into the house.
The deputy reported that the victim’s eyes were bloodshot and bleeding, and she had a scratch on one eyelid. McKnight was bleeding from a finger where he had been bitten.
McKnight has been charged with aggravated domestic battery causing bodily harm. He has one felony conviction (non-violent) and seven misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered a mental health evaluation and ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
Tis the season……to be bat$hit crazy.
Yep last time he would have did that brother or not crazy or not
WTF, was he a lifelong or past druggie, perhaps? Sis should abandon him for the streets of Starke.
Naw he’s from good christian home and very educated dont be so quick to judge
He definitely isn’t a drug addict. Mental illness is real.
He’s definitely not a drug addict and it’s interesting how so many people have comments about situations they know nothing of.

Held without bail until a trial is not the needed solution. BUT… peeps insisted the asylums be shut down
The asylums were abusive, but the body politic didn’t want to spend the money on community mental health. And the same people who didn’t want to spend money on community mental health were all about the for-profit, revolving-door prison system that they complain about still. All you can do is choke on cake that you try to have and eat at the same time.
Wow my God i know him and most of his family im not going to judge
Missing a lot of background for someone to make a rational judgement here. On the surface, it looks like she was performing a normal sibling activity of looking out for her brother. History of mental issues? We don’t know. Illegal drug usage? We don’t know.
Dang. I used to know this dude. He was nice as hell and well spoken. Not ghetto at all. Wow. I guess anybody can snap. I felt like gouging my sister’s eyes out a time or two. But I’d never act an that.
what do you mean by “ghetto”?
According to Urban Dictionary, “Ghetto is how one presents themselves in how they dress, act, and speak that acquires itself from the poor conditionings of a “ghetto” up-bringing.” It’s a derogatory term used towards individuals who lack the standards of manners and ethics.
yeah I am aware of the word’s meaning but I am curious to old boy’s use of it in this context…
Family crises are real. Mental illness is real. Domestic violence is real.. BUT GOD is real. Let’s not judge or speculate but participate in prayer for all involved parties. While this is an unfortunate circumstance, it could have been worse i.e., the loss of two lives–one the violence and one to the system. It’s praying time…..
There is no strong evidence to prove the existence of God.
We learn about “God” through books and perpetual teaching by our guardians and the society we live in.
If there was any God, then this world should have only one religion preaching same thoughts, messages
and beliefs having same sacred texts all over the world even in the places, countries and continents which were undiscovered and discovered later.
We don’t find any miracles today, we only find it in religious books and people claiming to see miracles is either faking it to gain attention, to gain power or hallucinating.
We more often see that miracles happened all in the past, but nothing happens in present why? Because there are no miracles, there is no God, it’s all stories and fiction.
I think Fear makes us believe in God.
Earlier people used to say God lives in sky, if it’s true then I think Neil Armstrong met him during his historic journey.
It doesn’t matter whether you denote sun or earth as a god, the sun is going to eat up our earth one day and neither earth nor sun cares whether we live or die, only science will help us.
Can you see the wind? Can you see the air you breathe? Miracles happen everyday.. you are a miracle to wake up every morning!!! People make religions or should religious affiliations.. not God. Fear is a liar!!!!! Nothing can make you believe in God–OMG…. Do you use that phrase??? You are making a declaration- OH MY GOD. End of this discussion. please do not comment.. don’t have time for foolery.
