Gainesville man arrested in Arizona for stealing over $100,000 in collectibles from Waldo Flea Market
Staff report
WALDO, Fla. – Michael Allen Kinney, 38, has been transported to the Alachua County Jail after being arrested in Arizona on a warrant for stealing over $100,000 in collectibles from Swamped Collectibles at the Waldo Flea Market in July 2025.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that in the early morning hours of July 10, a man who was later identified as Kinney arrived at the Waldo Flea Market (17805 NE U.S. Hwy 301) in a van, broke the window in the front door of Swamped Collectibles, and stole about $100,000 in trading cards, gaming cards, video games, and display cases.
The victim reportedly provided surveillance video and a partial tag number; a tag with a matching number was reportedly registered to Kinney, and Kinney matches the description of the man seen on the surveillance video.
The sworn complaint, filed two days after the burglary, noted that the van was last seen in North Carolina.
On February 23, Kinney was arrested by U.S. Marshals at a motel in Mesa, Arizona, and was later extradited to Alachua County.
Kinney has been charged with grand theft over $100,000, burglary of an unoccupied structure, and misdemeanor property damage. He has one misdemeanor conviction (traffic) and has active warrants out of Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $315,000, the amount set on his arrest warrant by Judge Denise Ferrero.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hope the collectibles were recovered!

Learn something new everyday…I didn’t think there was any possibility that there was anything worth $100K at that flea market!
Wouldn’t want to be his cellmate. Yuck!
Shouldn’t a Federal court hear this case?
If you added up the actual value of the merchandise from all of the booths there I don’t think you would top $100k. These are not “Pricless pieces of Chinese culture”.
Some collectable sports cards are worth thousands individually. Not sure if this lot that was stolen had anything like that – but it’s possible for a couple stacks of cards to add up very quickly. Collectable card games are similar – one card from the Magic: The Gathering collectable card game sells on the secondary market for over $2,500.
This individual also has been on TicTok stalking and harassing people. Many female ls have had to file charges against him. He is bad news and needs to stay in jail.
