Gainesville man arrested on warrant for drug trafficking, charged with six new felonies and three misdemeanors
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Isaih Malik Cox, 26, was arrested yesterday on a warrant for drug trafficking and was charged with six more felonies and three more misdemeanors for drug and firearm possession.
A sworn complaint was previously filed after Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on March 21 in the Holly Heights area. A deputy reported that when he activated his lights, four black males fled from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle reportedly produced 22 grams of MDPV, empty baggies, and a digital scale. Cox was charged via sworn complaint with trafficking in phenethylamines, possession of synthetic narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer without violence.
Another occupant of the vehicle was arrested on that date, a second was arrested on April 25, and the third was charged via sworn complaint.
A warrant for Cox’s arrest was issued on June 24, and yesterday several Florida Highway Patrol Troopers assisted a local law enforcement task force in locating Cox in the area of The Crossings Apartments (3205 NW 83rd Street).
Detectives reportedly saw Cox getting into a car at 1:18 p.m. yesterday, and a detective followed the car onto NW 83rd Street. A trooper activated his emergency lights, and the car turned into a side street and stopped.
The troopers conducted a felony stop and ordered the driver out of the vehicle at gunpoint because they had been advised that Cox is known to carry a firearm. The driver complied and was placed into the rear of a patrol vehicle.
While other troopers continued to order Cox, the passenger, out of the vehicle, they reported that they could see “a lot of movement” as if Cox were trying to conceal items. Cox eventually got out of the vehicle and was handcuffed.
A search of Cox, incident to arrest, reportedly produced a baggie containing 3.8 grams of marijuana, a baggie with 1.5 acetaminophen/oxycodone hydrochloride pills, and $100 in cash.
A search of the vehicle reportedly produced a Glock pistol in the glove compartment in front of Cox’s seat and a baggie containing 55.9 grams of cocaine under Cox’s seat.
Post Miranda, the driver reportedly claimed that the pistol was hers but was unable to provide the make or model, leading the trooper to conclude that she was trying to protect Cox.
Post Miranda, Cox declined to speak with the trooper.
The trooper concluded that the items found in the vehicle belonged to Cox and released the driver.
Cox was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of cocaine, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegally carrying a concealed firearm.
Cox has one felony conviction (non-violent) and five misdemeanor convictions (non-violent). Previous charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (2021) and illegally carrying a concealed weapon, along with possession of a controlled substance and resisting an officer without violence (2022), were dropped.
Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail on the charges from the sworn complaint at the amount set by Judge James Colaw in the warrant – $115,000 – and added $305,000 on the new charges.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
“bail on the charges from the sworn complaint at the amount set by Judge James Colaw in the warrant – $115,000 – and added $305,000 on the new charges.” I may be biased, but I’d say that the hairdo requires making the total bail a cool milyun, at least.
He is just misunderstood. He will be back on the streets soon enough.
Punishment for torturing people that have to look at his hairdo (fake btw) should be 5 yrs at the the Starke Big House.
Another 💩 ready for flushing. Maybe the feds can charge this one instead of Kramer’s office giving him probation….
I hope your moma is the one getting flushed 😌😂😂
The best part of this guy ran down his mommas leg
Another career criminal. He is likely a high school dropout, barely literate, and was likely from as fatherless home. An appropriate bail for a change.
After LBJ, a father in the home jeopardized the “programs”/hand outs and is why 40% of births are in fatherless homes (at least they claim to not live there, but thats the “crib” where they “stay” mostly.
A career criminal? but only has one felony conviction lol you can’t make this sht up 😂 the bail is what it is.
Another drugs and gun criminal with prior drugs and gun charges dropped. When are the voters of Gainesville going to wake up?
If the charges were dropped don’t you think they were dropped for a reason? You people on here act slow/dumb! You think the state wanted to drop the charges? There’s called “law” and people do have rights and amendments ! He could have 993939 priors that still doesn’t mean nothing today if they were dropped. It don’t matter who you vote for or what you try to change that isn’t going to change nothing lol dropped charges=dropped charges nothing going to change that
I’m still of the belief if more severe penalties, (amputations), were made against these felons who are caught with firearms, it would do more to curb repeat offenses.
You “soft on crime, they’re just misunderstood” liberals are idiots. If you want to help, take them home with you and try to rehabilitate them. If you’re not willing to do that, sit down and shut up.
LOL “liberals” are not the problem. If all these repeat offenders were given 10 to 15 years in state prison, in two years the crime rate and arrest rate would drop in half. That will not be allowed to happen by the police union.
All government departments have one prime directive: get a bigger budget to spend next year. Police, judges, prosecuting attorneys, and associates like private defense attorneys and bail bond companies and private for profit prisons WILL NOT allow crime and their money flow decrease. The prison industrial complex NEEDS repeat offenders to keep a bunch of college educated folks employed with big paychecks.
Invent a magic box with a button that, if pushed, immediately lowers crime AND the number of police on the payroll by 50%. Take it to the sheriff and chief of police. I guarantee they will NOT push that button and lose half their Empire.
From reading the daily booking logs on the Chronicle, it appears that approving the amendment in November to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana will reduce arrests and booking by about 10%. Look at the number of “possession under 20 grams” arrests that the SA does not prosecute and always drops. Police will hate this, as arrest reports will no longer contain “my training and experience recognized the burnt smell of that there evil gateway nar-co-tic mari-ja-wana leaving the car I stopped for a burnt out tag light, giving me probable cause to search the car.”
Maybe Kamala can help?
Another golden goose groomed by our SCUMMY ASS public attorneys and judges 👿👺🤡👹💩 ACLUSPLCDNC
Looks like a black mamba (snake) made a nest on his head.
It’s called doodoo hair..cause it looks like someone crapped on his head.
