Gainesville man charged with assault and battery after pulling gun from his waistband

Anthony Lamar Gibbons, 35, was arrested last night and charged with aggravated domestic assault, simple domestic battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after allegedly pulling a gun from his waistband during a dispute with the mother of one of his children.

A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a call from others at the scene and called all parties out of the residence. The victim reported that Gibbons pushed her to the ground during an argument and then took a gun from his waistband and held it by his side. The victim said she was in fear for her life when she saw the gun. The victim’s three children were present, and they reportedly ran outside and called 911 after seeing the gun. The victim described the gun as a small silver pistol.

The officers reportedly detained all adults at the scene, obtained consent to search the residence for the gun, and found a silver pistol in a compartment built on the kitchen refrigerator.

Gibbons has been charged with aggravated domestic assault, simple domestic battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has 11 felony convictions and was most recently released from state prison in 2015. He has an active warrant out of Wisconsin. He is being held on $25,000 bail.

  • Another multiple repeat felon laughing at the local laws. Seems “possession of a firearm by a convicted felon” doesn’t matter much in our circuit, even if displaying it intentionally in a threatening manner in the proximity of children.

    • Why did the mother procreate with this guy? The children will have his bad criminal genes…the downward
Spiral of the welfare state & society.

  • That’s not even true the mother pulled a knife on the father and pushed the suit case and she lost her balance and that wasn’t his gun that was her gun she was homeless and he didn’t want her living in the house so she started all this mess with him

  • Is 10-20-Life still a thing? Might take some of these bad guys with guns off the streets. 11 felony convictions? If he let her live there, there are proper eviction channels that his this fine, upstanding citizen could have taken.
