Gainesville man charged with pointing gun during road rage incident

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Zaden Mikah Yenna, 21, was arrested last night after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver during a road rage incident.

At about 8:05 p.m. on November 22, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about a driver pointing a gun at another driver on Tower Road.

The victim said he had been driving east on SW 8th Avenue and turned northbound onto SW 75th Street, and a white BMW turned at about the same time; he said the driver of the BMW started swerving around his car, gave him a middle finger, and pointed a small black pistol at him.

The victim said he stopped his vehicle, took a picture of the BMW, and called 911 because he was afraid the other driver would shoot at him. The photo reportedly captured the tag and “unique vehicle details.”

Deputies responded to an apartment at The Crossings at Santa Fe (3205 NW 83rd Street) that was associated with the owner of the vehicle. They reportedly found Yenna walking near the BMW and detained him. Yenna reportedly stated spontaneously, “I think I know what this is about” and told the deputies that his pistol was under the seat in the vehicle. Deputies reportedly found a small black pistol, loaded with several rounds, in the vehicle, along with an inside-the-waistband holster.

The victim reportedly identified Yenna as the man who had pointed a pistol at him.

Post Miranda, Yenna reportedly said the victim intentionally tried to crash into him and then began to follow him, so he took out his pistol and put it on his lap. He said he never pointed the pistol at the victim.

Yenna has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has no local criminal history, and Judge Robert Groeb ordered him released on his own recognizance.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Looks like a case of, ‘he said, she said.’

Although Yenna is an idiot if he left the firearm under the seat.

    • You missed a key detail: the victim was able to describe a gun that supposedly never left the guy’s lap.

      • Didn’t miss it. Small black pistol describes an awful lot of pistols.

Like I said, he’s an idiot. Whether he did point a pistol or didn’t.

  • Given – violence is a problem here.
Given – wrist slaps, low bail and charges
    dropped are a problem here.
Given – a demographic here accounts for 1/2 to 3/4 arrests here.
So now, we have a well to do white with violence charges and he gets no bail release. Really?

    • Judge Groeb, twice this weekend you sent a clear message that its A-OK to behave in a reckless antisocial manner with a loaded firearm. Get with the program.

      • The situation was a he said she said situation. Yenna had a gun for safety reasons because the “victim” other driver was driving recklessly and yenna was not comfortable.

    • yes you are correct – 3/4 of these arrests are Christians . Weird how 1 Man Made religion is responsible for more than 75% of the bad Awful Felonious behavior . Be Better Jeremiah .

      • Wrong religion, but I agree organized religions are the worst source of terrorism on the planet. That includes Christian and Islam.

      • If the defendant’s story was fully true, the victim would never have known there was a gun. The charge is not for possessing a gun but for displaying it.

  • You don’t stop and take a picture if you’re afraid someone is going to shoot you. That’s the dumbest lie I’ve heard in one of these reports yet.

    • Everyone is allowed their own beliefs , but , The Make Believe Religion people commit the most crimes , Its public record and Needs to Stop Now . SAD

  • I personally know Mr. Yenna and I can say he is a very angry young man. I have been threatened by his gun after a verbal confrontation on his part. I can say him saying it stayed in his lap was definitely last minute attempt to save himself from harsh legal action.
