Staff report

ALACHUA, Fla. – A 46-year-old Gainesville man was injured today when a van pulled out in front of him from CR 237, next to the Dollar General in Hague.

The van, driven by a 61-year-old man from Alachua, reportedly pulled out from CR 237 and was struck by a sedan that was traveling westbound on U.S. Hwy 441. Alachua Police Department’s investigation determined that the driver of the van failed to yield right-of-way to the sedan.

The 46-year-old man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was reportedly uninjured.

  • That intersection has gotten bad. I see so many people pull out from 237 without regard of what bearing down on them.

  • This spot is so dangerous! And our local governments are doing NOTHING to assure for peoples’ safety on 441 and, I might add, on NW 43rd St.
