Gainesville man killed in single-vehicle crash

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 59-year-old Gainesville man was killed early this morning when his truck ran off the road into a ditch.
The man was driving a pickup truck westbound on SE Hawthorne Road this morning at about 5:58 a.m. when the truck ran off the road in rainy conditions near SE 60th Terrace. The truck traveled across the ditch and crashed into trees; the driver, who was the only occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sad that he may have been the first victim of the hurricane.
DeSantis mentioned in a press conference that there hadn’t been any drowning or flooding deaths and that FHP was working on determining whether a traffic death was hurricane-related. I wondered whether that was this one.
What does it matter!! There was a lose of life…of someone just trying to go to work. Wether they head the warning or not..ifbthere was one…why make it political 🙄
