Gainesville man on pretrial diversion arrested for possessing identification for six different people

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jaden Devaughn Mavin, 19, was arrested last night and charged with six counts of possessing identification for another person, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug equipment, and unlawful possession of the personal identification of five or more people.
At about 11:00 p.m. last night, a Gainesville Police Department Officer pulled into the McDonald’s on E. University Avenue and saw five male teenagers standing near a car with the hood up. The teens told him they were having car trouble, but while speaking with them, the officer reported that he smelled marijuana and saw “shake” inside the car. Mavin, the driver of the car, and four juveniles were detained.
The officer reported that he found in the car a scale with “shake” on it, a cannabis blunt, and a bag with over $300 in singles. Inside the gas cap, an officer reportedly found over 15 driver’s licenses, credit cards, debit cards, and social security cards belonging to at least six different victims. An additional birth certificate and social security card were also found in the passenger compartment of the car.
Mavin reportedly admitted smoking a cannabis blunt earlier in the evening and that the cash was his. He reportedly said he found the personal identification materials in Orlando on Saturday outside the stadium at a football game. Mavin reportedly said he had intended to turn the items over to the police, but the officer noted that he’d had multiple opportunities to do that and had not done it. When he was asked how the items got inside the gas cap, he reportedly said he put them there because “he knew how it looked.” He also reportedly said he hadn’t turned the items in to police in Orlando because he was tired Saturday night.
Mavin has a pre-trial diversion agreement on a previous charge of carrying a concealed firearm without a permit and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Those charges would have been dropped if he had refrained from violating any laws before November 23, 2022. Judge Walter Green set bail at $18,000.

Maybe he will use the multiple personality disorder (6?) as his defence?
Just can’t stop lying!
Who taught him that?
That’s one unhappy looking perp.
He was to tired he says. Oh dear.
Yup folks, just more proof that Pre-Trial Diversion DOES NOT work.
Time to “undivert” his butt into the can, for a long time.
Future is bright for this guy!!. Keeps making the right choices!!.
Let the courts keep releasing criminals on pre-trial because it’s the EASY thing to do….criminals are just using the free time to create more havoc! Pre-trial is a joke and the bad guys know it…..
