Gainesville man sentenced to two life terms in prison after jury trial
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – James Clark III, 25, was sentenced today to two life sentences in state prison after a jury found him guilty of two counts of armed robbery.
Clark was arrested in January 2021 as a suspect in a December 2020 robbery of the Dollar General at 2400 SE Hawthorne Road and has been in jail since that date. At the time of his arrest, he had two felony convictions and had served one state prison sentence, and Judge Mark Moseley set bail at $300,000.
A Gainesville Police Department investigation developed Clark as a suspect in the Dollar General robbery and a previous petit theft at the same store, during which the suspect wore the same mask. Detectives also identified Clark as a suspect in eight additional robberies in the Gainesville area and one in Bradford County. At one point, he faced 19 charges, including eight counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery, nine counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, and aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony.
Clark’s trial on two counts of armed robbery lasted three days, and the jury found him guilty on both counts after deliberating for over an hour. Judge Bo Bayer sentenced him to two concurrent life sentences in state prison.
Life?
Violent Habitual Offender
Look up prisoner release reoffender laws. Its enhanced penalties because he just got out of prison. In Florida, if you go to prison, then get out and commit more bad crimes within 3 years, you can go back to prison for much longer.
My question is, when will he be tried on all the other charges?
Hey would he already have To life sentence
Bye, bye James. Bet you didn’t think at 25 this was how your life would end. Too bad they can’t execute you so that dimming life light would go out quicker.
I guess the truth hurts some people’s feelings and liberal egos. Would you rather gave him on the streets committing more crime and possibly taking a life or harming a person that is your family member or friend. Let that sink in. This how you get tough on crime. Maybe his brother or friend will say that is not the life for me.
Spoken like a true atheist conservative. I think theres some old book where a middle eastern carpenter talks to two other guys about to get the death penalty. I guess He was a liberal snowflake loser too?
Town drunk suits you. Keep drinking that Biden booze. Not talking about humans. Sometimes animals need to be put down for the better good. That’s all James is , a predatory animal needing culling from the village. Sorry if I spit in your drink. And remember as a true liberal to turn that other cheek when the Trump train kicks you off the track.
Ah yes, the animals with black fur do not deserve freedom nor rights cuz widdout da gubnint dey aint hab nun. What a godless sleeper cell cia libtard post.
Good take another sip and take a deep breath. LOL you last post made no sense. I am not a nun nor in the cia. I am not inva sleeper cell. I never inferred color into the statement. You are the one making it a thing not me. If you read most of my posts I don’t care who you are. There are crimes, and breaking points crossed where people are no longer able to be considered human. At that point they deserve a rabid dog’s fate.
For his age, and only two convictions, life sentences do seem overly severe. Consistency in facing consequences and serious but not life results would provide more deterrent than a one off overly harsh sentence, IMO.
Won’t stop me 🦹🏼♂️
I wonder how much money this fool received from the robberies and traded his life for. He wore the same mask and probably had a pink Huffy bicycle as his getaway vehicle. Have fun in prison
It was $3010 that he gave at least 11 people the worst day of their life over. $3010 that he then spent on clothes and shoes, and bragged about on a facebook livestream (during which the police arrived and arrested him.)
He does not possess the mental capacity or moral fiber to be a constructive (or even just… not DESTRUCTIVE) member of society, and was therefore removed from it, permanently. This is the justice system working as intended.
With all this evidence against him it was probably a very bad idea to take this to trial. My guess is they gave him a plea deal of 15-20 years…should’ve taken it.
Crazy you say that…. The state offered him 20 years mandatory, he rejected the offer and decided to go to trial. From speaking with him personally, most of these situations (jail and imprisonment) can be predicted during childhood. A lot of these guys I speak with they have no father figure and/or a mother who will unfortunately allow the ”streets” to raise their child.
Dang bro remember seeing you in the tent all the time I thought one day you would’ve done right guess I was wrong 🤷🏾♂️😞😞
Great.
My first thought ‘Life sentence seems excessive’ but then I read the article. Society has shown us that this is a person that will ‘graduate’ to more serious crimes that will include someone being harmed. Unfortunately, he had to learn a very hard lesson at 25 years old. Sad.
Good place for him.
Wow, they actually used a jury? That should be the NORM, not the exception around here (except in already too Demonic cities like NYC, LA and DC). 💩👿
Another 💩 flushed down the 🚽
The guy do like to pull himself a robbery don’t he? 😉
Dummy
Pretty sure he’s going to rob people in prison
Well he must love prison they just don’t learn. Can’t even feel bad for him. Praying our youth they justbdont learn .
I was thinking that if I were facing the potential for a life sentence or worse for a robbery, I would not choose a Dollar General but then someone told me the potential take is higher due to cash transactions vs plastic.
So GPD ran him down finally on 1-21-21.
Today is 5-11-24. So from 1-21-21, to 5-10-24 is over 3 years. So,so,so,
So it took the 8th Judicial Circuit, 3 years and some change to prosecute this guy ???
This is because,,,
“We goin to trial my n…., I’m innocent my n…., they ain’t got me wearin no maskess, handlin no gooin, I ain’t robbin no body. I’m going to trial dog !!! They gone let me out, an imma be right back on dem skreets. I ain’t rob no Dollar General store my n…..
They got the wrong one man…..
Wow! Wait till that sinks in.
