Gainesville woman arrested after threatening ex-girlfriend with gun, chasing her car, and denting her hood

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Keona Lashay Thompson, 26, was arrested early this morning after allegedly threatening her ex-girlfriend with a gun, chasing her car, and denting her hood.

At about 2:50 a.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a parking lot in the 2000 block of SW 34th Street, where the victim reportedly said Thompson had followed her in a vehicle; when she stopped, she said, Thompson got out of her vehicle and brandished a 9mm handgun, then hit the hood of the victim’s car with the gun, leaving a large dent. The victim said she managed to drive away, but Thompson chased her for a while before breaking off the chase.

The victim said Thompson had been “verbally hostile” toward her on social media for hours and that when Thompson got out of her car, she was in fear for her life and believed Thompson was trying to kill her. She said she also believed Thompson was trying to kill her when she chased her car.

The officer confirmed that there was a dent in the hood.

A witness who had been in the victim’s car reportedly said she saw Thompson chasing them, threatening the victim with a handgun, and denting the hood. The witness also reportedly showed the officer a video of a dark gray Kia chasing their car.

The officer used traffic cameras to locate the Kia, and the registration information led to Thompson’s residence at The Ridge on 34th, where she was arrested.

Post Miranda, Thompson reportedly refused to answer questions.

Thompson has been charged with domestic aggravated assault. She has no criminal convictions, but charges of battery or aggravated assault were dropped in three cases dating back to 2021. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $75,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Gainesville breeds these people like a puppy mill. They must be so proud of thier politics and 3rd world roads.

  • I’d venture to guess the victim drives a 4 door Charger, and those are considered
    “Affordable Bentley’s”.
If they do drive a Charger, and there is a big dent on the hood, then now, it resembles a “Dently”!
