Gainesville woman arrested for threatening to shoot houseguest
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kelly Ann Ferguson, 60, was arrested early this morning after allegedly threatening to shoot a woman who had been staying in her home.
At about 1:30 a.m. on January 24, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to a home in the Northwood West neighborhood, where the victim said she had been living with Ferguson and her husband for about two months, but Ferguson had been drinking that evening and had been acting “weird” toward her recently. The victim said that she and Ferguson argued because Ferguson believed the victim was having an affair with her husband; she said Ferguson told her she needed to move out immediately and that she was going to get her gun and shoot her. The victim said she went into a room to hide and called the police.
When officers arrived, Ferguson’s husband reportedly said he had a gun in his pocket that he had taken from Ferguson, and an officer took a small handgun from the man’s pocket.
Post Miranda, Ferguson reportedly said the victim had been living in her house for about two months, and she argued with the victim after she smelled marijuana inside the house. Ferguson reportedly said that during the argument, the victim walked toward her, and she went to get her gun because the victim was “three times her size.” She said she might have told her husband that she would shoot the victim if he didn’t get the victim out of the house, and her husband took the gun and told her to stop being crazy. She reportedly admitted to having the gun at one point, but she said she never pointed it at the victim.
Ferguson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has no local criminal history, and Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard set bail at $25,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Alcohol and guns never mix. Alcohol has not been kind to her.
Alcohol is not kind to anyone.
“her husband took the gun and told her to stop being crazy”
Good job husband…probably saved both women’s lives
Telling a crazy woman to not be crazy has never worked out well for me. I am relieved to see it did in this case.
Don’t know what the other woman looks like but, …
“Everyone” should have the “right” to own a gun, eh?
Wrong.
Wrong again. You have the right to own a gun if you are not a convicted felon, mental care, drug user. This women has every right to own a gun. She made the mistake of letting alcohol and anger to get in way. She apparently threatened the victim with gun which she was arrested for. If found guilty she will a convicted felon and barred from firearm possession.
It was a good time and lot’s of fun, until it wasn’t. hihi
“Shooting your own houseguest”? Not very hospitable.
Part of the problem is that the laws protect the “tenant” in giving them full legal 100% right to do as they please in a place they have been staying in. The real owner, or resident can not enforce them to be quickly removed from the house.
