Gainesville woman arrested for threatening to stab woman and dog

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jamiah Starlett Jamie McClellan, 34, was arrested early this morning after allegedly threatening to stab a woman and a dog.

At about 2:20 a.m. on January 10, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to an apartment at Grove at Sweetwater Preserve, where McClellan had reportedly argued with the victim before allegedly grabbing the victim’s hair and then grabbing a “butcher’s knife” and threatening to kill the victim’s dog.

The victim reportedly tried to leave the apartment, but McClellan allegedly tried to cut her with the knife.

The officer reported that the victim had small red abrasions on her arms; he was reportedly unable to find any knives other than standard kitchen knives, which did not appear to be out of place. He also noted that dog food was scattered throughout the apartment.

Post Miranda, McClellan reportedly said she had argued with the victim and had grabbed her shirt, but that was all. She reportedly admitted to grabbing the victim’s hair, but she said she never had a knife and did not threaten to kill the victim’s dog.

McClellan has been charged with domestic battery and domestic aggravated assault. She has no local criminal convictions; she has two previous arrests for domestic battery, but the charges in both cases were dropped. Judge Donna Keim set bail at $20,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Threatening to stab and kill her dog??? Disgusting. Make her do her time at the animal shelter in a cage with rabid dogs.
