Gainesville woman charged with fraudulently obtaining SNAP and Medicaid benefits

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Queen Sharon Lily Reeves, 27, was arrested yesterday and charged with fraudulently obtaining SNAP and Medicaid benefits.

According to an affidavit filed by an investigator from the Florida Department of Financial Services, Reeves submitted applications requesting public assistance benefits on multiple dates between December 28, 2022, and August 7, 2024. On those applications, she allegedly reported that she was making $1,000 bi-weekly at her job.

The investigator reported that Reeves was employed by the Florida Department of Children and Families from January 6, 2023, through at least November 30, 2024, and she earned $103,206.61 over that period. Reeves allegedly failed to report this income on at least two applications for public assistance benefits, and she allegedly failed to report her overtime income on one application.

During this period, Reeves reportedly received $11,964 in SNAP benefits and $3,022.83 in Medicaid benefits, for a total of $14,986.83.

Reeves has been charged with making a false statement on an application for public assistance benefits and wrongfully receiving over $200 in benefits, a felony. She has no criminal convictions; a sworn complaint for domestic battery was filed in February 2024, but she was never arrested, and the charge was dropped. Judge James Colaw set bail at $1,000 on the warrant for her arrest.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • It took over a year to find this out? How hard is it to find out if someone is employed especially working at a state job. She then ripped the state off of more money.

    • Hey, the governor and his wife, with the help of the current AG, ripped off the state for $10 million and haven’t been charged.

      • How about showing us your proof, let me guess you don’t have any otherwise all you Democrats would be calling the feds to investigate

      • Another tale that triggered your TDS/DDS illness. This a simple story of “Queen Sharon” stealing money that she is not “entitled” too. Kinda like the Somalia people are stealing money that is not “entitled” to in Minnesota. Keep taking your meds.

  • Piss poor government oversight with apparently no computer technology to catch these scofflaws defrauding the taxpayers?
Really? Every time I go on line to shop for something I almost immediately get emals and text messages trying to sell me something similar. It can be done!

  • And I can assure you, this is not the only one in the state of Florida doing this they need to stop all snsp and Medicaid benefits and make everyone re-registered and do a damn background check

  • It took over a year to uncover this because Blaise Ingoglia and Florida DOGE are so preoccupied with partisan, performative “investigations” of government waste that he’s too busy to see government fraud occurring right under his nose during his watch.

  • You can just imagine how many others are doing this and not getting caught. Stop all handouts, grants and “assistance” Once we put this money back into hard working taxpayers, more will want to be hard working taxpayers, and we can help those that truly need help!!!

  • The Queen of Beggars commits a $15,000 felony and that wimp Judge James Colaw gives her $1,000 bail? Do government employees get discounted bail, Judge?

Speaking of government employees, the welfare application process seriously has no way to check and see if someone is working a government job? We’re supposed to believe no one thought of that?

That has to be deliberate, to give plausible deniability to the routine corruption the Democratic Party has spread throughout all government organizations.
