Gainesville woman killed in NW 23rd Ave accident

Press release from Florida Highway Patrol
A 44-year-old Gainesville woman was fatally injured at 4:48 p.m. on Sunday on NW 23rd Avenue near NW 77th Terrace. Florida Highway Patrol is no longer releasing the identities of accident victims.
According to the accident report, the woman’s sedan was traveling eastbound on NW 23rd Ave in front of an SUV occupied by a 33-year-old Keystone Heights man and his 29-year-old female passenger, also of Keystone Heights. She attempted to make a u-turn and turned into the path of the SUV, which hit her car. She was transported to UF Health and pronounced deceased.
The occupants of the SUV were not injured. All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
Marsy’s Law?
I’m so confused about why the identities of those killed in traffic crashes are no longer released…

Given that not all accident victims are crime victims, I think it’s an interesting interpretation of the law. I suspect it will get sorted out in a court eventually.
