Gainesville Word of Mouth Facebook Group is rebuilding after removal

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jimmy Wilson is rebuilding a Gainesville Word of Mouth Facebook Group from scratch after Facebook deleted the original group, founded by Gina Jones 10 years ago.
The group grew to more than 90,000 members before Facebook deleted it for vague reasons, according to Wilson. Facebook sent him notifications about posts that “went against our rules for fraud and deception” but would not show him which posts were flagged and removed. Responses to several rounds of appeals resulted in messages that said the group “goes against our Community Standards for adult nudity and sexual activity” and “does not follow our Community Standards on employment fraud and scams.” Wilson said the group, which he has moderated for about seven years, had never even been suspended before it was deleted.
Pointing to the value of the information shared in the group, Wilson said, “The sheer number of lost pets we were responsible for getting back to their owners was incredible. It kills me that there are some right now that we aren’t getting to reunite.”

They put my picture and phone number in the group and jimmy told everyone to call and harass me.
I was getting “we are gonna hang you “ninja” calls from all over the state.
Even with the screenshots and call records GPD refused to act. This was the straw that broke that camels back in addition to all the other stalking and harassing they were doing. This is where my moniker “turd of mouth” originated.

Common Sense, regardless of what happened between you and the girl, those people who dogged you should have never brought race into it. Even if you deserved to be dogged for whatever reason, they could of done it without the blatant racism

How do they stay in biz, there’s so many around, I think they’re drug dealer and human trafficker fronts with lawyer ties.
The group disappeared right when I sued, yes they help peoole find lost pets but that’s not what they specialize in. It’s the type of group that attacks the voice of reason im the room because it’s not about facts it’s about feelings.

That group was where people went if they found an injured squirrel or a venomous snake they were worried about. The guy who relocates the snakes can be easily found there. The top wildlife rehabber in the area used the group to educate and find volunteers. You could also find help for injured strays, etc, easily on the page.
It was great for local current events like when there was a stand off at Walmart earlier this year or when there is an accident. Lots of first hand accounts for all sorts of stuff.
Jimmy and his wife have hearts of gold when it comes to both wildlife and companion animals.
Something shady is going on. There was no reason to remove such a vital source of info in our community

Secret Squirrel Wildlife Rehab is the main one these days (Becky), especially since Nan passed away from Sunrise.
If you rehab, please step up your game if you haven’t already. So few people doing it in our area and I worry about Becky’s health (girl doesn’t sleep)
It’s best to leave wildlife alone…nature will take care of it.

Some people eat them like a delicacy…I’ve never eaten one, but people say they are delicious and make some squirrel 🐿️ gravy and put over rice…I will eat one if someone cooked one for me…it’s making me hungry…

Build some high rises downtown but quit tearing up unincorporated Western Alachua County. We had affordable housing in the 70s onward until probably 2018. We had super cheap housing before the advent of “luxury student housing.”
Why save the squirrels? There’s plenty of things in the food chain that will eat them if they fall out their nest… you sound defensive and triggered. Why are you sick of ACPS and their BS? Your child is not my problem. It’s your job to educate and feed your child.

I don’t remember the snake dude’s name but Becky at Secret Squirrel would know (I can’t look him up since group was Zucced). I don’t think he rehabs but he does relocate (too many people killing snakes even though they are valuable part of ecosystem….better to get him or another trained professional to relocate venomous snakes)

That’s what happens when a group isn’t over moderated. Sometimes your feelings could get hurt and you want those meanies “punished” or like some dems, “Canceled.”
Sometimes they are mean, but then I choose not to engage. We are not all mean in that group. I see more compassion than meanness in general.
Yes, dragging can be harsh and sometimes I will mitigate if I think the overall point is being clouded by the mob.. like when some idiot wants to dump (rehome) a dog they’ve had for 10 years because the dog side-eyed their toddler after the child jumped on its arthritic back. My concern is for the dog’s wellbeing (and by extension, the toddler’s) and l may kindly provide tips so the dog can live out its final years with its family, even though I’m internally just as pissed as everyone else at the owners.
Again though, there was a lot of humor and goodnesw. Y’all dog Jimmy, but ask him about his rescue dogs, former bait dogs, one of which had its snout severely damaged by a firecracker or buck shot (I remember the pics but not what did it). The rescue chose Jimmy and Holly because they knew the dog would be treated like a queen. This is the same rescue that did a lot of stuff for underprivileged kids, many of whom were Black. I could be wrong, but I believe Jimmy and Holly supported the rescue on all its endeavors.
Would you drop everything you were doing to spend a few hours driving an injured fawn to medical care? Not even one near you? Well Jimmy did. More than once
And libel is in all local groups, even the other GWOM, which tone polices like crazy. Just ask the local doctor they went after, trying to cancel him because they didn’t agree with his (Republican) beliefs. The lawsuit and settlement are all part of public records. Oh it wasn’t just lost pets. There was WAY TO MUCH negativity and hateful mess being posted. I had remove myself because of all the ugliness GWOM was responsible for. And every single comment someone wants to make it about politics.
