Gainesville Youth Sports 11U Baseball Team will compete at the 2023 Babe Ruth World Series

ALACHUA, Fla. – The Gainesville Youth Sports (GYS) 11U Baseball Team and Coaches Ben Haines and Mark Bender have been invited to compete in the 2023 Babe Ruth World Series Baseball Tournament at the Ocala Rotary Sports Park. The World Series will take place on Monday, July 31, and will run until August 6 in Ocala, Florida. Teams from all over the country will be participating in this tournament. The team will be featured in a parade at the Downtown Square in Ocala on July 29 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. 

GYS’s 11U baseball team is the ONLY team representing Alachua County at the World Series, and they are the first 11U team to make it to the World Series from Gainesville. 

GYS’s 11U were runner-ups in the Cal Ripken State Tournament and came back and won the Cal Ripken Southeast Region championship with a 4-2 victory over Glen Allen, Virginia.
