Gas South expands Food4Kids Backpack Program with $100,000 donation

Press release from Gas South
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gas South, the Southeast’s leading natural gas provider, today announced a $100,000 donation to the Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida, an organization with a mission to provide food and vital resources to chronically hungry children in the North Florida region.
Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida serves children ages 5 to 18 experiencing food insecurity in Alachua, Levy, and Dixie Counties. Gas South’s donation will enable the nonprofit to expand its services into Bradford County and purchase a box truck for transporting food in bulk. The funding will cover the costs of distributing 150 bags of food weekly to serve up to 300 children from food-insecure homes in Bradford County.
“No child should ever go hungry, and Gas South is extremely proud to join in the fight against childhood food insecurity,” said Kevin Greiner, CEO at Gas South. “The Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida is changing lives and providing resources to an extremely vulnerable population. We are thrilled to help expand those efforts.”
This donation comes as part of Gas South’s annual Impact Investment Awards program, an annual funding effort to support various children and family charities throughout Georgia and North Florida. This is the first year the company’s customers joined employees in the voting process to select winners. More than 10,000 customers voted for this year’s finalists.
In addition to the Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida, Gas South employees and customers also selected Sunshine on a Ranney Day in Georgia, which provides no-cost home renovations for families of children with special needs. This initiative is an extension of Gas South’s Be A Fuel For Good commitment, through which it donates 5% of annual profits to children-oriented organizations and programs.
This is really nice to see – what a wonderful cause for the company to sponsor. Thank you!
