Gators Head Coach Billy Napier partners with Gainesville Fisher House to raise awareness and funds

Press release from Gainesville Fisher House

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gators Head Coach Billy Napier, currently preparing for his third season at the helm of Gators football, is teaming up with the Gainesville Fisher House, which offers accommodations for families of veterans receiving care at the VA hospital. Napier is raising money for the local chapter by auctioning five autographed black jerseys from the 2023 Saluting Those Who Serve game against the University of Arkansas.

The auction, hosted by Auctions by Adkins, is currently ongoing and bids are already being placed at https://tinyurl.com/NapierJersey. A live auction will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 1 p.m. at 2638 SE State Road 21, Suite 7 in Melrose.

The game was the first time in Florida Gators history that the football team took the field in black uniforms. Each jersey is adorned on the back with a word that signifies the characteristics of the Armed Forces and First Responders, including commitment, courage, honor, integrity, and excellence.

Honoring the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and local First Responders, the 2023 Saluting Those Who Serve game jerseys will now take on a new role, directly benefiting the members of those important services. Napier partnered with Fisher House due to their unique position of supporting not just military members, but their families as well.

“We have the chance to give back to people who chose a career in service and put their life at risk to protect the simple things that we have access to each day,” Napier said. “I think it’s important to do that.”

As in previous years, Napier will continue to honor the military each season. He will bring in speakers from different branches of the Armed Forces and first responders to talk to the team during the week leading up to this season’s Saluting Those Who Serve game.

  • I’m glad to see UF taking a lead and presenting itself as a University that supports the US military, it’s vets, and first responders.

  • Thank you for your service, Mr. Napier! Your example of support is appreciated.
