Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jimmy Lee Abraham-Boone, 30, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, has been sentenced to 20 days in jail and 2 years of probation in a plea deal for brandishing a gun at another car on I-75.
Abraham-Boone was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the victim told a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper that he and Abraham-Boone had an “altercation” on the roadway on March 24, 2023. The victim said that when he looked toward Abraham-Boone’s car, Abraham-Boone was pointing a gun at his car. The victim’s daughter reportedly told an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy the same story.
Boone was released on $50,000 bond, and he was formally charged with only one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Boone entered a plea of nolo contendere to the charge, which has a maximum penalty of five years in state prison, and was sentenced to 20 days in the Alachua County Jail, which he is currently serving. He will serve two years of probation after he is released. Adjudication of guilt was withheld on the felony charge.
Maximum penalty is 5 years and the judge gives him 20 days! Ridiculous
